While living in LA, I never found myself longing for (or lacking for) sun. But I did sometimes find myself nostalgic for muggy east coast summers, complete with the sound of crickets at night, fireflies lighting up the sky, and the cool air following a late afternoon thunderstorm. Atlanta can't quite match the Jersey summers of my youth, but sitting on the back porch under these lights at a downtown restaurant tonight felt more like summer to me than a year of perpetual sunshine in LA ever did.
