house that moved

In December 1961 this 14th or 15th Century house was moved 90 meters and turned through 90 degree to make way for a new road. It was estimated that the house weighed 21 tons.
Great shot - they made a lovely job rebuilding it

@virtualbrownie sorry for confusion, the building was physically lifted onto a cradle and moved as a complete building, not dismantled and rebuilt..

@sjc88 dad was a builder/bricklayer working in the Exeter region and as part of the moving/consulting team. His work can still be seen at the University, Oedeon cinema, St.Luke's College and much more. We always joked that Exeter would be a flatter place without Dad
