@maggiemae@scarybird This is looking from the harbour wall up stream towards the village. To my left is the waters meet where the river and sea come together. At the time of the photo it was low tide and nothing of interest happening... The serious storm of 2004 (there have been other recent significant floods in 2008 and 2013) where cars were being washed down this river are indeed difficult to imagine looking at this but being a narrow rocky valley there is no where for the water to disperse to so it comes down the river at speed and with force. My photo posted on 12th December is in the opposite direction at virtually the same point but looking out toward the north Atlantic.
We were staying in Bude and were heading to Boscastle for tea but the roads became so flooded so quickly that we turned round just before Boscastle. So pleased we didnt press on with our original plans!!
