Woolworth Building by soboy5

Woolworth Building

The Woolworth Building, built in 1913, was the world's tallest building until 1930. It is one of the finest examples of neo-gothic architecture in the world and it's ornate lobby is magnificent. Sadly, the lobby is now closed to tourists due to post-9/11 security concerns. This is my 3rd favorite building in Manhattan.
This is excellent - I love historic architecture. Black and white is perfect for this shot!

@jdr4690 Thanks, Rob. My late uncle was a builder and engineer and he showed me this building back int he 1980's. It was his favorite skyscraper in Manhattan. The lobby interior is beyond magnificent, but they no longer allow photography of the lobby (or even admittance by the public!)

@sandier Thank you, Sandie - this is a really cool old skyscraper, I am glad you like it. A real pity they refuse to allow tourists inside as the lobby is its best feature.
@calm Thank you, Cathy! I love this building.
