The iconic Chevelle SS 396 was Chevrolet's answer to the Pontiac GTO and the Oldsmobile 442 - all three were brutal, straight line muscle cars. SS stood for Super Sport and the 396 was the size of the engine, measured in cubic inches. These cars ruled both the drag strip and the street back in the late 60's and early 70's. Although this 1970 SS 396 was painted in black with white stripes, I converted this image to b&w in post to give it a bit more of a "street-racer" gritty image, which is so appropriate for these powerful machines.
