"No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh little darling of mine
I can't for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way
And the course of the lifetimes runs
Over and over again..."
"Mother and Child Reunion" is a song by Paul Simon on his first solo album after Bridge Over Troubled Water. It was released as a single on February 5, 1972, reaching #4 in the U.S. and was one of the earliest songs by a white musician to feature prominent elements of reggae.
To match an image to this poignant and beautiful song, I selected this shot of Veronica and her youngest daughter, Viv. Taken on a family vacation in Sandestin, FL and re-edited last night.
Today is also Veronica's birthday. so this image is doubly appropriate.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle were two of my favorite artists in the 60's. I like you themes Danny. I'm going to have to give it a try some day with one of my favorite groups. Happy Birthday Veronica!
