Mankind Figure - Youth by soboy5

Mankind Figure - Youth

Paul Manship created the bronze Mankind Figures of Maiden and Youth in 1933. The 8-foot statues originally stood on granite shelves on either side of Prometheus (featured 2 days ago). Manship was displeased with their placement and had them moved around a number of times. In 2001, they were moved to their present location on top of the staircase to the skating rink. Best viewed large.
A very good POV Danny with the open space and then the buildings rising behind the statue.

Beautiful deco-style statue. I like the contrast between the monchromatic statue and buildings, and the long row of colorful flags.

Hi Danny. Just curious...I noticed your pics are taken in NYC. Is this where you know reside as your profile lists a town in Georgia. I'm from NYC and often find myself in these places.

I missed this area while there...I was taking photos on the other side of the street. This is great!

this is a very beautiful capture!!!
I really like all the flags around... if it wasn't for them I might of thought this was a B&W shot... so the flags add a very nice touch of colour!

I believe this is an ice rink in winter - took a school party there some years back. We went to Central Park first but it was a day they were closed - kids weren't impressed with "Sir"!
