Lights

I saw a show at the Paramount theater last night. I took this picture outside the balcony seating in the lobby.

Any advice on shooting or editing shots where there's a dramatic contrast of light and dark? I couldn't just select the lights and lower the brightness because the edges were so fuzzy.

wonderfully stylish. Whatever you did, it was a perfect choice of light/dark. As a "spray and pray" photographer myself, I just take multiple pictures with various exposures and see later which one fits what I wanted to see. That being said, it doesn't always work though occasionally I'll overlay a negative b&w version over just the dark part of image. This can bring out dark parts of the picture (but can mess up colors)
