this makes me want to cry. it looks like a street on the west end of toronto. a lot of people had been evicted from their homes since COVID-19 and they didn't have any recourse but to set up tents in parks and side streets. i wonder how they fared with the snow and the cold that has set in.

@stephomy no way. I read the businesses are reporting a lot of crime. That is too bad! Stay safe and well! :-)

I'm in shock as I see this -- I feel so unaware of what's happening in our world. Is this due to Covid evictions? In Tokyo, there's a section of Ueno Park that is a sea of cardboard houses of the homeless to the point that social services has soup kitchens and hair cutting services in the area as it's clear they are there to stay.

@jyokota Covid seems to have accelerated it, but it's been on the rise the last few years. A few tech companies such as Amazon and Expedia have been growing a lot here. With the increase in high paid tech workers flooding the area, housing costs have risen a lot.

@stephomy -- it's so immoral when the uppermost levels of such companies get rich at the cost of what they do to their communities. I'm so sorry to hear this.
