Even at it's finest (which this one is), graffiti doesn't please me. It usually make me feel a place is dirty, dangerous and run down. Maybe I need an attitude adjustment.
@bette I think most cities can be, in parts, all of those things -thats what happens in most big conurbations. Personally I like that part of a city, it's often where the good food, art, music and images are-the patina of age/decay if you like, though sometimes as you say it's just miserable and grim. Of course graffiti can be the same-just ugly and dumb but sometimes (Banksy or new york trams) it can be vibrant and intelligent and witty and strangely beautiful. I noticed everywhere in Rome was covered and this appears to be a historical thing all the way back to Roman times so it's not just a modern phenomenon. In the end I suppose the maxim ' Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' applies" I think your attitude is just fine we just don't agree is all.
