.Back in September I put up this picture of an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar https://www.polaroidblipfoto.com/entry/2089649018928891628. I then looked after it until it pupated. I expected a beautiful moth in June but instead this equally beautiful (in its way) Ichneumon wasp emerged yesterday. Amblyjoppa proteus only paratises Elephant Hawk moth caterpillars. This made me think of how incredible yet fragile are these ecosystem relationships and how cavalier we are in our disruption of them
@bette Yes, that would have been amazing if I was the first.! However the local county recorder was pleased as it was the first definate ID of this species for our county. He told me Ichneumon wasps ID is normally 'the province of real experts' as they are very similar so identifying the host is a big plus.
