Day 006, Year 2 - Oxford Street by stevecameras

Day 006, Year 2 - Oxford Street

I was wandering round central London running errands including getting to one of the main Post Offices to get things posted, forms filled etc and the sunlight around town was awesome. I was determined to find a particular shot which I will go back to one day, but I was also trying to shop for something new and managed to find a shirt eventually.

I came out and thought about heading home and the weather turned and it started to rain again. I was taking some shots of the Christmas decorations which are now left un-lit before it started pouring.

I grabbed a few shots, then had to get underground. By the time I got back to Ealing it was horrendous so didn't take the camera out again.
Fantastic shot. Love the buses in the street below

This super to see and read about! So busy and such awful weather is perhaps not quite so nice! Good for the underground!

@orbit9000 @nancyperry @maggiemae Thank you all. I was trying to get a nice neat line of buses at once but I would've gotten soaked :)

@nicolecampbell Thank you!
And i'm not sure...just let me....*clicking over to www.google.co........*
It would appear not.
Not like the Empire State Building where the colours change throughout the year! I went there when it was a lovely yellow colour for Easter in 2004, looked very nice!
January 6th, 2014
@largey Thank you H!
January 6th, 2014
@stevecameras - I was hoping I might be able to get some good Easter shots, oh well, I am sure there will be plenty of other photo opportunities!

@amyamoeba Thank you Amy :)))
January 7th, 2014
Great shot, like the desaturated appearance of the buildings and lanterns contrasting with the red pop of the buses. Fav.
January 7th, 2014
@jesperani Thank you Jennifer :)))
January 7th, 2014
It's teeming with excitement. I think it's the duality between the monotone top and the color at the bottom (?). Not exactly sure what makes me stare at the photo, but I love it.
January 7th, 2014
Like your pov and good capture of the busy street
January 7th, 2014
@herussell Hope, it was strange. I came out of a shop onto Oxford Street, looked in this direction and decided for the first time since arriving in the city a few hours earlier to grab a shot. I saw the same as you. The sun had disappeared, the grey was looming and the colours were just so cool. I was shooting for around 20 minutes but I think this picture was one of the first 3 or 4 shots I took.
Thank you for looking :)
January 7th, 2014
@khirsch Thank you very much Karin.

January 8th, 2014
Thank you @SteveAngell When I was learning WB I took a lot of selfies! Lol
January 8th, 2014
Well,where shall I start! Love this on so many levels.... the red of the buses, the throng of shoppers and all that activity going on down below, leading up to the grey/blue calm tones above and, of course, those wow planets in Oxford Street. Great light too! Absolute Fav.
January 8th, 2014
Like this... Have snapped them a few times at night but was never happy
January 8th, 2014
@jackie8 Thank you Jackie. The tweaks I did were very minimal. I spent the day in London doing errands in gorgeous sunlight which I resisted capturing because I was looking for something specific - a Big Issue seller, could not find even 1!! - and I came out of a store here and the light had changed to this. It was awesome so I had to capture it.

@andycoleborn Thanks Andy.
I really liked the lights at night. http://365project.org/stevecameras/365/2013-12-12
I managed the shot above but I was totally happy with it. I felt like I couldn't quite nail it either. This year i'll do better...! :)
January 9th, 2014
Very cool I like the retro look to it.
January 9th, 2014
This is great!M

Jo
Ha that's a familiar siight, very nicely captured, I snapped a big issue seller in Knightbridge, outside Havey Nichols, but I think he was asked to move on!
January 9th, 2014
@fueast Thank you Alison. I did a very slight tweak in Alien Skin Exposure, with a slide film preset. Just a gentle one, as I didn't want to change the colour as such.
January 9th, 2014
@nicolaeastwood Thank you Nicola!
January 9th, 2014
@jo13 Thank you Jo.
