I really wanted the night time shot of the towers to make the main album but I do think this is a better shot. The rather lovely W Hotel in Doha where I am staying is amongst the skyscrapers you can see in the distance, and this day was our only day off. I went with some colleagues walking through the towers and then caught one of the water taxis you can see here, across the water for next to nothing. It was a great way to travel to this side of the water and get my shots looking back at the mini-Manhattan.
I could look at this skyline all day. I've no idea why but I love cityscapes, tall buildings and the unique look they have. We have some great tall buildings in London but we don't have too many of them so anytime I see something like this above I can stare and shoot for hours.
I love the difference between the skyscrapers and their cool, modern look, and the warmth of the dhows and the brilliance of the water.
About a decade ago, I spent six months in Bahrain and loved the contrast of the old and new together there, both on the water and in the city of Manama itself--the modern buildings and the maze of the souk....
@bernicrumb Thank you. I'd love to go to Bahrain. I;m fascinated by this whole area and this mix of old and new and the rising of new cities so quickly makes for some very interesting photographs!

A gorgeous capture. Well done!
