Day 210, Year 2 - Alexis & The Pooter

I went to see a film called 'Finding Vivian Maier' about a nanny in the US who took thousands and thousands of photographs, mostly in black and white, including many self-portraits, all of which are just brilliant. So I was inspired to take a black and white shot of Alexis while she was at mine for a couple of days.

I recommend the website that features her work:

and if you can find the film go and see it. The story about this woman is fascinating. She took all these photographs which weren't discovered until long after her death. And IMHO she would have found fame and fortune with her work. It's magnificent.

Hopefully these will whet your appetite - I dream of shots like this:

I've been reading about her, didn't realise they had made a film, love some of her stuff, especially her selfies.

Great shot. I have been reading about her too. I saw a small exhibition of her work in the main library in Chicago, I want to, but have not yet seen the film.

thanks for the links, didn't know about her. I'll look into the film too.
When I saw your picture I had to think of the painter Mary Cassatt (little girl in a blue armchair)
