Apologies if my feed is becoming a little tedious with the repeating light trails and iris stars but what can I say, other than I like doing them :)
I spent today trying to shoot this awesome building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa - the tallest skyscraper in the world - and did a recce on foot for quite a long time, walking effectively around it for a decent angle.
It was frustrating because the image I have in my head is based one many that I have seen before in some ways, is one that is shot from many floors up above ground level and I knew I wasn't going to be able to get this. I did walk into a nearby hotel that I know has a fairly good view of the downtown skyline and asked if I could quickly see into one of the top floor rooms telling them I was "planning on visiting soon with a friend and making it a big surprise". The nice man on the desk either knew what I was up to, or the hotel really is fully booked this week.
Oh well...I like it.
I'm not completely happy because there are some many angles that would be better...but don't have 'access' and I'm no pro. And I will want to try and improve and do better next year! :)
3 good things:
1 - A good 4 mile run in the gym after getting out of bed - felt good even though I am not a big fan of running after sleep
2 - Got a much needed haircut today that also included a brief head massage by the barber which was a nice bonus (I don't mind admitting he had strong hands and I liked it!)
3 - A nice day on foot, drinking coffee and indulging in my favourite past-time of people watching and photography
