“It was perfect in its imperfection.”

Back in 2014, my dad wrote a book. It’s a childhood memoir of growing up in the East End of London. I’ve had it sitting in my email inbox for 7 YEARS.

I have been promising him that I would read it but for some reason I never took the time to sit down and do so. Today I read the whole thing and it was bloody brilliant. It was so funny and moving and I now see my dad in a whole new light. Some parts made me cry and other parts I was laughing out loud. No idea why it took me so long, but there’s definitely a lesson learned there. 📚
He writes well. You should have it printed and bound to give to your sisters and to him for a present. I'm trying to write a bit about my own parents' marriage and life together. Hard when it's not first person. I admire anyone who has the courage to put down feelings on paper. It's therapeutic and cathartic. Would he allow it to be shared with others... like me, for instance?
