I do wonder if west pier will survive this final onslaught - it may have always looked on its last legs but it must be close now! Great composition

A fantastic image of our wild seas Debbie....this is a pier...it has no way onto it...perhaps damaged by the seas before.

@happypat thank you yes this is our very sad,controversial West Pier built in 1866 and closed in 1975. Following two fires and several bad storms the shell you see is all that remains. Several attempts to form trust to repair it but all failed so far. Some people want it pull down others want it restored

@stoat What a shame...I quite like the pier as it is now...lovely iron work but would be far nicer repaired...always a money problem though!

@happypat it was beautiful when it was open - far more than the Palace Pier that's left. But as Debbie says, it's had calamity after calamity and endless failed schemes to restore it. - such a pity
