Passing stranger! you do not know how longingly I look upon you,
You must be he I was seeking, or she I was seeking, (it comes to me, as of a dream,)
I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you,
Walt Whitman - To a Stranger - Leaves of Grass. 1900.
I was trying to think of another word that describes this particular lonely condition - got it! : Alienation (sociologists call it 'anomie' as well, some French chap, I can't remember his name!) Anyway that is what I see these lone images portraying.
definitely has that lonely feel to it. i love everything about this photo. the light, lines and textures are fabulous. I like how the windows on the left balance the doors on the right. you've captured a silhouette with perfect movement. Fav!
love those words ..and so apt .. .. really like how the eye is led to that solitary figure .. awesome in B/W ... the images in this series look like 'art' .... Fav!!
Yet another wonderful lone figure. How long did you have to wait for someone to walk past? You should put your lone figure photos in a book. definitely a fav.
Another wonderful lone figure image. It has occurred to me that the lonely figure is a duplication of the photographer who is usually...alone. It's just that one is usually unaware of the other. Fav :)
