I never met Curtis in person but I became friends with him, his wife, and many others as we gathered at “Emre’s Bar” every night during the pandemic. Emre did a live show during lockdown every night and kept count of the days. Somehow we all found Emre and his one man show and became friends. Curtis died New Year’s Eve from lung cancer. He had given Emre his 12 string guitar for his birthday after he knew his diagnosis. Tonight Emre played all Zeppelin songs (Curtis’s favorite) on Curtis’s 12 string guitar. There wasn’t a dry eye among us.
