Amaryllis by tdaug80

Amaryllis

The amaryllises were popping open yesterday. This photo was taken with a flash inside during the rainy day. It seems a little over saturated in the reds. I tried all sorts of flash and exposure settings. I don't use flash much. I'd be interested if anyone has any advice for how to get a natural looking photo.
Beautiful! I need advise for this too. But you did a great job. Sometimes I use an editing program to reduce the saturation slightly.

Move the plant pot to a lighter location with a plain background and use a wider f stop. Let more light in and it should do the job for you.
I have a pink one here - looked terrible where it was, so I moved it into the dining room and let the light levels come up. Don't know if that helps: https://365project.org/casablanca/boy-toys/2021-03-01

@casablanca I don't dare move the pot. It belongs to my wife and she loves her plants as much as she loves me. A mishap in the moving would be bad for both the plant and me.

@tdaug80 LOL!! Then you need to bring more light to the area either through opening windows and doors or some bounced artificial light. I almost never use a flash gun either, but when I do, I bounce it to make it softer. An option anyway!

I find reds are always hard to get right. You could try using a tripod and a much longer shutter speed instead of a flash and maybe a bit of light painting if it's too dark..
