Wild flower, Coreopsis??

We have two plants of this flower in our side garden. Neither of us is "sure" what to call it. The colors are pretty, but the flowers tend to be somewhat misshapen.
I think it's a GAILLARDIA PULCHELLA "PICTA",

I think Santina ( @santina ) knows her flowers. That was what I came up with when searching with Google. A lovely close up.

Like you, I leaned towards a misshapen coreopsis because of its colors and center, but Santina probably knows better. It is really interesting.

Interesting shape! And yes, gaillardia...common name is blanket flower.
