Smithfield Market by tomdoel

Smithfield Market

Designed by Sir Horace Jones and opened in 1868, Smithgate is one of the few wholesale markets to remain in central London. In the 1940s, secret research was conducted under the market into pykrete, an experimental ice and woodpulp mixture which might have been used to build aircraft carriers had it not proved impractical.
This is a very nice structure. I wish there would be a bit more light right under the roof where architecturally all the interesting stuff its going on.
