With a -38C wind chill today, it was way too cold out to take any outside pictures today. Instead I spent some time playing with my macro lens. Have learned you really have to close down to get a good shot. Any tips would be great.
My sympathies on the weather. On the bright side, I really like your macro photo. Gives one a chance to see a pine cone (I assume that's what it is) in a whole new and more interesting light. Hope it warms up soon but meanwhile, I'm all for seeing more macro shots.
This is a lovely macro with great focus and pov, fav for me. My macro is my favourite lens and I love playing with it and deciding what part of my subject I want to have in focus. Using manual focus is pretty much a necessity, so that you make the choice and not the camera. I imagine you used manual focus for this. The wind chill here in Toronto was about the same as what you describe, and I didn't even set foot on my balcony--didn't want to get frostbite.
