Hoorn - Station SHM

A train a day keeps the doctor away!

Do you know why the bottom of the train is painted red and not black?

I guess it has a safety reason (most things with trains have to do with safety). I could ask next time I am there. But even modern trains in the Netherlands need to have either a yellow or white front. The same is the UK, there also all steam trains have a red zone around the buffers. I guess we have the same safety rules as the UK.
