Snake Head

I just ran into this guy outside on my driveway. I think he is an Eastern Rat Snake. My husband, who hates all snakes wanted to kill him, but I wouldn't let him. I think he is a good snake who kills other snakes, rats and pests. He is about four feet long and patterned in black and cream.
