Yes, I know the Olympics officially began last Friday, but for my husband and my son, they will begin tomorrow when they arrive in London! Both of them have been competitive runners since they were kids and as our son grew up, he and my husband would talk about someday seeing the Olympics together. For them the dream becomes reality. They flew out today. They have tickets in to 3 running events (which will have other events going on at the same time), will see mens and womens marathon from the street and a bronze soccer game.
Oh, I am feeling a little jealous--that is so GREAT. I hope they have a wonderful time. Great shot.
One day I will make it to the Olympics. I hope they enjoy. One year one of my boys competed in a Regional competition at UC Berkley against a guy who went on to win the Gold Medal. That's the closest I have been to seeing an Olympic athlete--a few years before he won ; )
You talk about a great road trip. Father/Son time should be great. If you communicate with them, tell them to cheer for Jeremy Scott in the pole vault, if that event is going on. His wife is a good friend of our niece, Rosie.
@jenrobcarr I am ok that I am not going, this is THEIR dream. A few years ago, my husband sent me to Guatemala to study Spanish for 6 weeks...a dream come true for me. I lived with a family and did volunteer work at an orphanage for handicap children.
