We found these rocks along the edge of the Columbia River. I wanted to get up for a closer shot, but everything was covered with a layer of ice so I had to stay back.
Ooooh! Treacherous and beautiful! You have to watch out for your ankle, so good choice staying back! I suppose there aren't many wind surfers out on the river right now!
Oh, this is a lovely capture Vicki! Glad you didn't get to close. I tried that last winter on Lake Superior. Slipped on the ice, almost dropped my camera in the water and my right arm went in up to my elbow. Rather a soggy mess to have to deal with in the cold. The ice on the rocks is always so glorious to me and your photo captures that beauty perfectly!
Wow...I don't think I have ever seen ice on the Columbia. Sometimes is the marina's there is ice on the docks though. This is is amazing....and so glad you didn't venture down on it. No more twisted ankles!!!
The weather is crazy!! Ice along the Columbia?? It was good to stay back and photograph from a distance. That looks very dangerous. Very cool shot of these unusual conditions.
My first thought was "sleeping polar bears"! Good idea to not risk venturing out on the ice- it looks very slippery!! Love the color of the water- it looks cold!!
