I think I might enjoy this project

Today, I was more prepared for this project than I was yesterday. I had my trusty new compact Canon S90 that my better half had bought me for my birthday, and as I drove along a windy road on my lunch break, I stumbled across a decrepit old building. I was curious, so I parked my car and wandered around the derelict structure. Surrounding it was a myriad of interesting features, so I snapped away as onlookers drove past giving me strange looks.

I took about fifty pictures, but short-listed three for today's post, and struggled to select the photo I was happiest with. Taking quality photographs is truly a difficult process, especially if you're relying on scenery and landscapes; people are almost always more interesting subjects because they're naturally more emotive.

I settled on a picture of a hollow tree bark. There isn't a story behind this photo; I just liked the detail and the out-of-focus foreground. So, I stopped for the ramshackle of a building, but came across this as I roamed around the construction. I expect this kind of thing to happen often over the coming year.

I came away with a real sense of satisfaction because I had found an interesting subject matter for the day. I'm sure other days will be a real struggle for inspiration, but I'm determined to keep this up.

Canon S90, f/4, 1/200, ISO-80
Hi, congrats on starting 365! I am using an S90 for all of my shots as well. It may not be a big SLR, but I think it takes pretty great shots when you put a little effort into it.
