Not the left lion by vikdaddy

Not the left lion

Today was definitely the hottest day of the year. Yesterday was warm, but today was positively 'scorchio' in comparison, and tomorrow's meant to be even hotter. Time to get brown (or browner).

I popped into town today, which is what I usually do on Saturday afternoons to catch up with my mates. I was in the Market Square and took a few obligatory shots of Nottingham's Council House. It was inevitable that at some point I was going to take photos of the lions that stand guard to the building.

It's not the left lion that most people meet at in this city, but the other one. It's not usually known as the 'right lion', possibly because of the lack of alliteration, or because it's equivocal; if you want to meet a friend at the left lion, is the 'right' lion also the 'wrong' lion? Apparently one's called Leo and the other's called Oscar, but I don't know know which one is which.

Like the lion's names, today's shot is not the most imaginative. There'll be days when I'll only be able to take a few shots and my chosen picture won't be of great quality, and today is one of those days. But it must be a rite of passage for a keen amateur photographer in Nottingham to take a photo of these local art-deco icons.

Not a thing wrong with this photo! It's a nice strong image! Again, we love seeing things from your region, and I'm picking up that you may be British, what with "mate" and "Nottingham Square"?

Since we've "connected" on the computer at the same time, (thanks for the follow...) and you left a comment about my cat picture, I could add something about my choice that may apply to what you're struggling with. I'm living in an area for the summer (Nova Scotia) where there are endless choices of beautiful things to photograph. I took some pictures yesterday that I was sure would be put on the popular page if I used them (unique/strong color/pattern) but I decided in the end to go with a moment that's sweet to me personally. With it, I could tell part of my story, and, for myself, it becomes a memory that's going to be the fabric of this year. Can you see what it is I'm saying? (Have some fun, and we'll have fun with you! Just give us a little time to get to know you better.)

Yup, I'm from Nottingham! You're really kind with your comments and generous with your time. I look forward to your photos.

You can't go wrong with a good capture of a lion statue, I think this is a really nice shot.

I'm guessing that Leo is the Left Lion, in keeping with the alliteration. Great shot. I really like the perspective you have choosen - placing the Lion above you with regal respect.

I would also guess that Leo is the Left Lion, cause of the alliteration. But since I'm from Pittsburgh, and know nothing about these lions, I must acknowledge that this is pure speculation. I really like this shot. They don't have to be complex or even unusual. You did a perfectly lovely job with the subject at hand.
