My feet are absolutely aching! I went to the Peak District as I planned to today; I even purchased some walking trainers in preparation! I started in a village called Hope, and bought what became a very useful ordnance map. I then made my way towards Win Hill, which is a very steep climb. I took plenty of photos as I made my way towards the top.
The view from the summit was lovely. There was the River Derwent and Reservoir on one side, and the village and a dense forest on the other. I took many photos I was pleased with, and this is one of my favourites.
After taking in the views I made my way down the Hill. I went in the opposite direction and a sheep took an interest by sniffing me and my camera, which was funny as the others seemed to get on with their grass-eating business. I then made my way down the steep decline into the forest, and eventually reached a bridge. At the bridge I began making my way back but got a little lost, so the aforementioned map came in very handy. One bonus of getting lost though was a horse who, like the sheep before it, took an interest in me and my camera. I can't remember ever being so close to a horse before, so I stroked its mane and took some photos. A few other horses followed it too, so I was surrounded by about four of these beautiful, graceful creatures. I finally found a familiar place and got back to my car.
All in all, its been a nice, productive and interesting day. The weather was perfect and I took quite a few photos I'm pleased with. The Peak District is Britain's largest national park so there are many places to venture to, and I plan on going again hopefully in the near future. The rest of my images are on my Flickr account ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/vikdaddy/) if you're interested in seeing what else I shot today.

Nice to see some of my local sights! I'm from Sheffield but have been away for 14 months, returning Sunday! Looking forward to these landscapes again! Great pic!
WOW gorgeous shot Vik! Love those colors and capturing both the summit and the background adds alot of dimension to the photo. Well done and sounds like you had a great hike.
(PS - What a "horrible" place to get lost with a camera ;) )
I am in Nottingham next week up for meeting for a beer.
