Bring on the summer; I've had enough of this cold weather. It's taken a turn for the worse again, just as I thought it was starting to get a little warmer. I suppose it's naive of me to assume the temperature was going to start rising this early in 2011, as mild weather is the exception to the norm at this time of year. It just that it seems to have been so cold for so long!
There is one benefit of the temperature being in single digits, and that's nice sunsets when the skies are clear. I left work a little earlier today and drove to the River Trent again, this time taking photos from the other end of the bridge that I photographed on Wednesday.
The bridge was just behind me when I took this shot. I took some shots with the bridge too, but it's not the prettiest and I felt it detracted from the sunset. There was another shot I quite liked that I posted on my Flickr page ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/vikdaddy/5396031711/).
I entered a shot in to a website's photo challenge, and it was selected! I wondered why there was a spike in traffic to my Flickr account, and it's because last Friday's photo from the Peak District was selected as one of a few images to represent the theme 'weathered'. It's the first photo on the page too, so thank you 'The Photo Argus' ( http://www.thephotoargus.com/inspiration/20-superb-photographs-from-the-showcase-challenge-weathered/)!

Congrats on your pic being selected!! :-)
Nice photo here, and I agree, the only good thing about the cold is the wicked colours at that time of night.
Beautiful! I love the lines that bring us through the picture to really appreciate the juxtaposition of the cement and the shiny, reflective water... all leading to the faint hint of the sunset. Beautiful.
congrats on the picture competition! it was a great shot! this is superb too, love the colours and composition. it was cold today, i agree, but it does have it's pictoral benefits!!
I hear that! I was done with the snow and the cold before the 12" we got on Wednesday. 50"+ so far in Boston this winter. I like the composition here. You put the bend in the river in the perfect spot, drawing your eye across the image.
Vik I always enjoy looking at your beautiful pieces of art and this one is no exception =) Love the depth, colours lines the whole photo is just beautiful
