Was pondering on capturing the stars tonight after work & as I headed towards home the sky was aglow, Aurora Australis. Looked like a white fog glow & after I looked at the shot I took it came out this moody green. By the time I pulled into the driveway it had mellowed a bit.
Some information on it here http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2012/02/28/3441638.htm

I'd to see it too! Occasionally we can see the borealis from the UK but I'd love to go and see them properly from Iceland or Norway. You're very lucky! Great photo too.
@cmc1200 No, It appears as white foggy sun rays but the images come out green, I read that if you can go up another 100km it has a red glow. I didn't realise what it was at first. Apparently it is seen best in over the southern part of Tasmania. I really got there to late to capture more of the glow, happy with this
Great picture Wendy, you are so lucky to be able to see this. You must be really pleased with how this came out :) It's gorgeous, with the silhouettes and the stars.
The Scots and Norewgians can see the Northern Lights if the circumstances are right. My wife really wants to see them so one day we will. Lovely shot :)
@runningbk It was out again last night when I got home from work, got a different colour this time. Posted it today in my 365. The northern lights would be brilliant to see
When this 365 is over, I'll ask you for you e-mail, would be good to keep in touch and I will send you the pictures. I must admit I really do have bad days with the camera but the rest of you keep me going.
@runningbk That would be great, thank you. This photography thing is all pretty new to me, I am enjoying it. But yes you can have some bad days, I think is having the time & patience for it. Really like your work and hoping your weather gets better for your butterflies to come back
