Get Pushed #20 - From Juliette, I'm going to challenge you to shoot an image / images that sum up what Christmas means to you, whether that be anticiaption and excitement or bah-humbugging!!!
The idea is family & Christmas because to me that is all it is about. It is really the only time of the year when most of my family get together & catch up.
Well, taking portraits is not a strong point of mine. So it was a challenge. We tried to get the kids to share wearing a santa suit wth mum & dad but they just weren't into that. They spotted these letters & became very keen to get a picture holding them up. So here is my niece Vanessa & her partner Rowan with Alyssa & Xavier

@wenbow ah really neat shot Wendy. I was so close to getting my challenge done - had my teddy bear with me at the airport and on my long train journey...but when my flight got cancelled (and the airport was declared shut) and my train got badly delayed, it seemed pretty inappropriate to ask people to put a smile on their faces and lark about - nobody looked very approachable!! I am however going to try again this week because it's a cool challenge!!
@netkonnexion Thank you, have you any tips for portraits. I am very bad at these. I struggle with the focus & I have been trying to use my built-in flash as I don't use it very much because I don't have much of a clue how to use it properly . Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Wendy......are you kidding me??? NO NEED to apologize......I am so flattered that you like my work! YOU are so gifted. Thank for you for noticing me... Well, it makes my day!
Wendy, I've looked through your albums and really like a lot of the shots! I see we follow some of the same people as well.
Now, I noticed you didn't have any 'star' or extended night shots. So, my push challenge is 'out of the box' and you have two options that take advantage of the night atmosphere. Here you go:
1) night time long exposure (>10 sec) of boats on the water with either the moon or stars in the sky; or
2) Star trails of any sequence (my preference since it takes setup, camera control and post editing)

Hopefully you'll have a clear night for shooting!

Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
