I'm borrowing a picture Nick took on our walk at the the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge this morning. (Mine was fuzzy because I don't really love spiders and I was very girly about getting too close.) It's web must have ended up enormous -- she was just starting to spin and it was attached to a tree but hanging over the path from at least two or three feet so it looked like it was floating in the air.
We have the same huge writing spider that's built a massive web up at my mother-in-law's house. My husband got a photo to send his spider-hating former secretary. It ran out of the center every time I got near. I'm calling it Charlotte and will not be surprised if we come back and see "Some Pig" in the web.
