This is my idea of a great way to see this beautiful region...about as far away from the freeways as possible! I suppose a lot of cities are as densely packed, but when we sit in stop and go traffic, we're not alone in wondering who is still at home!
We had wonderful views all the way to Phoenix and another nice flight to Costa Rica. Arriving after dark, the weather and the openness of our hotel reminds me of Hawaii, and the people we've met so far have been lovely. (We were here only once before on a cruise stopover, but even then I knew I wanted to return!) It was an excellent travel day in every way and we can't wait to greet the morning!
lucky you. While we are in London there is the same feeling of so many people on the streets and in the underground. The motorways are so full of cars rushing from one place to another. I think big cities are all the same. At the moment we are out in country France with the birds and flowers and off the motorways for a few days.
I was trying to figure out what those tall buildings are in the circle area? I hope you have a grand time, Louise! Cannot wait to see your travel shots! :)
Fabulous plane-scape Louise showing your very busy coastline! Sounds like a good journey thank goodness And now your adventure begins! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to see your photos. I hope you see all the birds and animals you want although I am sure they will come flocking to say hello! Lol! Fav!
What a wonderful trip you are going to have!! I think that must be Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar State Beach with Fashion Island in the background. I love looking at it - especially since our AC is out right now (Kirby off to get the problem part and get it up and running) and it is hot!
@stownsend Spot on, Suzie! The jetty leading out of Newport Harbor, Big Corona, Little Corona (you can see the path going down the hill, and I want to check out what the next properties those are! AMAZINGLY huge homes on the water...not everyone would guess the property values! And yes, of course Fashion Island and Back Bay. I love seeing places from the air that I know so well!
I can think of a lot more words, but should warn you I don't like cities much, the bigger they are, the less I like them. I moved to Geelong when it was about half the size it is now (around 250,000 city and surrounds) and it's getting far busier and people-ified than than I prefer. If it weren't for the excellent medical facilities here (that I need), I'd move to the bush tomorrow.
@Weezilou I used to live in the area and work at Fashion Island - I think I can almost make out the building. Most days we would walk Balboa Island - then go for a beer! It was hard to find parking then, I can't imagine what it would be like today. I love this picture so much!
