I'm beyond embarrassment by now... I posted one lame photo for the day, and here's the only other subject I photographed...
Well, it IS a very cool bell...it's heavy and sounds a nice deep "Gong"! I was going to send it to our friend, Mike, who decorates fabulously for Christmas...but if he wants it, he's going to have to come visit and retrieve it... Otherwise, it remains *Mine* :)
Love it. It reminds me of the strings of Bells of Sarna my mother used to have. Questiion: What happened to the daily stats display? I came back on after a month with a new computer, etc. and it's not there. I just now noticed it!
@Weezilou That's interesting... Guess I'll email Ross.... My new laptop is wonderful, but so much had to be transferred over, etc. We let the guy at Computer Factory where we bought it do that for us.....
I think this is a great shot Louise. Did I read right 'lovely starting over with a new computer' . No way Jose. I'm hating it. I don't like Windows 8, I can't find the imported photographs after using my camera for the first time since before Christmas! . I'm going to have to find a way to get in touch with Photoshop so that I can get it on this machine without having to pay again. I'm a very, very, very unhappy bunny! Oh dear that looks like a bit of a rant! Where's my smiley disposition gone - sucked into the new computer probably. I suppose I'm really miffed as I was saving for a Mac and then the door fell off the cooker so some of my savings went on that and tha tax man needs paying at the end of January. Ah well that's life. It could have been much worse!
It does have a wonderful sound to it. I have one similar, but unpainted. Starting to get rusty (here in Washington), but I love the deep tone to it. Even made my own wind chimes using 3/4inch conduit, minimum 52 inches long.
@timandelke Ahhh, thanks for pointing out the obvious, Elke! It's doubtful that that is going to happen... Happy New Year to you two adorable people whom I always enjoy seeing on that little square profile picture!
@byrdlip I love seeing things that get weathered with time...as this will, too , probably sooner than later! And good for you to have made your own chimes! To purchase them in a garden shop can put a dent in the wallet...and what you make yourself, you enjoy more, anyway! Happy New Year and nice to see you here again!
@ceilidh Oh dear, Margaret...I've got broad shoulders...you're welcome to rant on my site anytime! I hasten to add that it was not me who got the new computer, but that I was commiserating with Anita Campbell. I did get a new computer last summer...Windows 8...and I have to say, when I got the hang of it, I'd never go back...I love it! I DO NOT however, want fingerprints all over my screen, so I don't use the touch "feature" (but use a mouse). I'm fortunate that Ken has been in the computer electronics business, and what might eventually stymie him, he has that circle of "computer geniuses" to sort things out for us immediately... On many many occasions I've joked that if anything happens to him, my computer may as well go out the window! As for sunny disposition, I was thinking this morning (it's only 9 AM here) what sort of caption I might write with that yet-to-be-taken photo to celebrate New Year's Eve... It would certainly be about appreciation for a well-spent year, but the hope that the new one would bring nothing more than we might be able to handle...tax men not withstanding! Happy-and-Hopeful New Year to you, my dear friend...it's been such a pleasure getting to know you here!
@lynnz You make me smile...you always do! I have so much admiration for your photographic abilities, I'm touched to receive your note and to hope that I'm sharing my life around me (as I see it) with others whom I care about. I'm so happy that many of us don't see the calendar change as a closing gate, but as a door to move through and onward! I look forward to all you'll share in 2015 and I wish you a wonderful "turn of the calendar page"!
I don't think this is a lame shot at all - none of yours are. Love the background you've put it against. Symbolizing ringing out the old, ringing in the new, very appropriate. Besides it will eventually rust (I love rust) and then it will be even more beautiful. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
I'll chime in with the others. (*groan* Did I just type that REALLY bad pun???) I think this is lovely, Weezi! My best to you, Ken, children, and grandchildren! :) Happy New Year!
What a gorgeous bell! I'd have been tempted to keep it too. Too bad there weren't others you could've gone back and purchased. One of THOSE could've been sent back east.
@lyndemc ahahah... OK...Actually, I bought TWO (a wee bit smaller) the first day! I'm taking them back to Lunenburg and hanging them on each side of the front door in the winter where summer plants hang... Our friend, Mike, decorates in a big way with large items, so I thought of him...and then I thought not... We ARE hoping he'll come visit us this winter and if he likes the bell, I'll let HIM carry it home! (It's not light!) (Oh yes...and I bought the last bell...)
That is a lovely bell.....I am not surprised you hung it at your house.....it would be a real shame for it to sit in a box until Mike comes over to visit!! I think this one was calling out your name.....there will be another one with Mike's name on it!!
I only knows the ancient bronze bells from China and Korea .
