Besides the knit throw for the bed, I also bought this table cloth...completely impractical, I suppose, but so beautiful. This was the first time I set it out, and thought to get a photo to make it look as beautiful as it is. While I love pretty things, I'm not extravagant, and I look at this picture and see my purchases from yard sales, consignment shops, craft fairs and flea markets (including all the furniture). It actually gives me pleasure to see that I can put together a cozy environment with items no longer needed by others.
I have little doubt that one day in the distant future all this will reside in another home or (hopefully) be enjoyed by a different owner. I had a friend who used to say, "There are no luggage racks on a hearse", and given that, I'll enjoy my nesting and the pleasure of sharing it with another.
@panthora I thought exactly the same, but then THAT might be an impractical extravagance! (And WHERE to store it when not in use (as this is the table with one leaf, and I can add a second or subtract one...) I'm glad you saw it and like it...would love to have you and Roger join us for dinner here one night (or more!)!
well done Louise, this is so cosy and warm. Tend to agree with you. A friend once said to me 'Use what you have because the second wife will abuse it". Those were powerful words that helped me along

@Weezilou I would love that so very much! I am literally sneaking in a few more looks at 365 ( talk about addiction) before the make me turn off my phone, or throw me off the plane! On the way to Doha....12 more hours, and then another flight! See you soon....hope you are surrounded by friends and family for Thanksgiving!
@panthora "Friends"...a couple from NYC who entirely refurbished an old home here and come up when possible. It'll be wonderful fun in their company! xo again... Much love ♥
@ninaganci Yikes! Horrors! That said, Ken knows how I love these pieces and give them good care; I think he's be careful with them as well...my daughters, too, so beyond that, I can't give it too much thought! Thanks for the nice note, Nina!
@jamibann Thank you, Issi! SO GLAD to have you check in! You and Helene...been thinking of you daily! You were the envy of all when you went to Paris...so sorry it has been tarnished and I hope all you love are well. My heart goes out to all the others...
@kwiksilver Thank you Gillian...it's been quite a fortunate gathering place with friends and visitors from many countries. We miss it in the winter, but will pick up where we left off next year when we return!
