...and she's purring, too! by Weezilou

...and she's purring, too!

I took this otherwise-innocuous photo for our dear Helene @parisouailleur, a known protector of cats, as am I. When she read about "Not Fred" and my desire to keep him cared for while we are away for the winter, she sent a link to suggestions, one being to build housing for the winter. ...And so Ken did! Besides double walls with insulation, that's a wool sweater of mine that shrunk in the wash atop a pillow of dried leaves for a comfy cushion. "Buffy" (who I do believe has a home somewhere around here but spends an inordinate amount of time at our house!) gave it her vote of approval as soon as Ken set it out! She's not the cat I'd hoped would use it, but they'll sort it out in my absence!

And the purring? The baby monitor is in there so I could hear if it was being used (and by whom!) I can sit at my computer and listen to a purring cat, knowing that we're both happy.

Life is good. Thanks Helene!
Louise, you are hilarious! And you have the biggest heart ever! A fav for your kind deeds. Hope the felines winter well, although I am sure they will miss the warmth of your smile as much as the warm summer temperatures.

@allie912 Well Allie, you put a smile on my face as well! I absolutely know that, should we meet up one day, we'll sit and chat like fast friends! And thanks to Helene @parisouailleur as well that all along the links, we're paying it forward! ♥

@lynnz Look how well this works out! Thought you'd want to see how quickly it was set to use (should you decide to make something similar as well!)

Oh yes that looks such a cosy house for the cats!! Well done Ken!! How funny that Buffy should be the first to use it. I wonder if they will ever all squeeze in there and cuddle up for warmth? It's good to know they have somewhere to go in your absence but I know they will all miss you and the regular top quality food they get when they visit!! I wonder if the racoons will investigate the house? We need a movie camera set up to watch the winter activities of all your friends!! LOL!!

So this is outside? And hopefully the owner of this visiting cat will feed him? Good for you for this structure.

@maggiemae This is on our back deck, Maggiemae. We'll leave it there this winter in the hope it will provide shelter for some needy cat! When we're no longer around to cuddle this sweet kitty, perhaps she'll go home again!

@pamknowler I'd LOVE to have a motion detector camera out there for the winter! Since you left, I haven't left dry food out, and the raccoons are gone. I've read that they do go into a semi-dormant state over the cold months, but honestly, it hasn't been cold enough to test that theory! I was out in shorts and bare feet cleaning the car windows this afternoon! Nov 15th! How crazy is that?!!!

my immediate thought is you might have to put several "homely" boxes out as I'm sure they will take ownership of a box and not allow others in! Love your act of kindness :)

If I ever become homeless I know where to go to ( If I was a cat) Great job of Ken.
Ina send you a big thanks for you so nice comment.

@pyrrhula Well we do the best we can for "cats in need". There are always those one or two who come from comfortable homes, but try to blend in so as to get some extra pampering!

That's one happy cat right there. And a lucky kitty too, to have such a cozy place to take a cat nap.

All I can say is,, "Louise, you are incredible.." Definite one kozy kitty!!!!

How thoughtful! And the baby monitor idea...just brilliant. And kudos to Ken for such fine handy work! I'm sure they'll be quite comfortable in there.

@Weezilou. If I do so I`m in trouble. (for sure) :)
Those harts where very tiny. Less than halve a inch.

so nice! wonderful!

what a great job Ken has made of the winter quarters. All mod cons I see. I love the idea of a monitor so you can know when someone is in residence and also enjoy the purring

This is so wonderful. Protector of cats? You are a protector of all animals! I love that you keep using baby monitors to hear her (and other animals!) and the fact that you were listening to her purr!!! :) :)
