While I've been so looking forward to giving Dylan his birthday book, I didn't expect him to single it out and emote over it. And he didn't... Our other two gifts with the Paw Patrol dogs were a bigger hit in the morning. I waited until bedtime when the boys like us to read books to them, and I asked if he'd like me to read his new zoo book. In moments, he came to life, recognizing pictures he'd asked me to take! Even more exciting was when he found pictures of himself and all the extended family members on some of the pages! I knew I had some of the pages filled with information, but no way could I go though it all in one sitting!
Without saying anything more than, "We'll read more of this tomorrow", he said, "There must be a trillion pictures in this book!" Clearly he's an observant child who understands Grandma's need to take a lot of photos...and at last I had a place to use some of them!
Ashley, watching, had seen my copy of the book and knew what lay ahead. I love her bemused look!
Such a beautiful book Louise! This is something Dylan will treasure always and really appreciate as he gets older! Thanks for sharing that magic moment even though it came a bit later than you expected! Super presentation in the collage! Fav!
Lovely book Louise. I too turn some of my photos into books. So nice to be able to look at them without searching on the computer. I am sure he will love it as much as his paw patrol.
Thank you for sharing a few pages from your wonderful zoo photo book that was a birthday gift! I love the questions and vocabulary words that make it interactive and thought provoking. Well done Louise!!! It's a keepsake from your heart to Dylan's!
@gardenfolk ♥ Thank you for the kindest of words! Much as I hope bot the boys will enjoy the books while in childhood, it's something of a legacy to them as all the kids know I'm that grandma with a camera in from of her face!
I thought of you tonight as I finally got out for my first sunset up here! I was just too dog tired the first couple of days, but how funny is it that I recognized the shape of the cloud in your photo that I could see from Ashley's front window! That's happened a couple of times with others around here and I find it quite amazing!
@Weezilou That is amazing Louise! I missed the sunset tonight because we were indoors with the grand boys. I am the one asked to take the photos in the family but I am known as the BOOK grandma (Go Go). I too bring them children's books as gifts. I worked in a children's bookstore for several years when my son was little and amast a rather large collection of wonderful books. Next, will be the photo books! :)
Oh my word. I can't think of a better way to use photos. Educational, informative, but also so personal. So much more than a collection of photos placed in a book. Absolute fav for that Louise!
what a wonderful book and love how you have added questions to the pages. My little grandson loves Paw Patrol too but I a hoping he will enjoy the scrapbooks I am creating for him to remind him of the things he has done and places he has gone.
I adore that Zoo Book, Louise!! Simply awesome!!! And I love how you readily expected and accepted that the Paw Patrol stuff would get a higher billing. But I know (and you know) that the Zoo Book will be a legacy gift through the years. I have a feeling Dylan's children will be reading and loving this book 25 years from now.
I love this collage and your narrative, Louise! The zoo book you created looks fantastic! Definitely something Dylan will cherish for many, many years. Coming from a retired elementary teacher's perspective, I'm sure Dylan (and his teachers) will thoroughly enjoy sharing his zoo book with his classmates . . . and very proudly announce that his Grandma made it for him. :-)
