Working Dog by Weezilou

Working Dog

No sheep in sight, but this Australian sheep dog was born to be a hard worker! We passed this couple in a remote* cove where we'd driven to see the iceberg. The day was sunny, but breezy and often greatly windy which added up to "chilly". For a Newfoundlander, it must have seemed a warm day as many were jogging the steep hills wearing shorts and tank tops. I would peg these folks as tourists of the healthy, hiking variety!

Pam and I have so many photos we want to share! I'm at a disadvantage without my own computer, but I'll make do. Ken's keyboard is abysmal, so I may not write many comments until I'm back up and running better. Will post one more and then must get rest.

I look at my watch and read 11:00, but I forget Newfoundland runs One Half Hour later! Don't ask... I have NO idea!

* and REMOTE describes every little inlet on this island. "Towns" consist of 20-50 houses...
Yep, you're right, they look disgustingly healthy. Not too sure about making the dog carry that load though, poor thing looks laden.

That poor dog looks ovoaded..... We know the story of the 30 minute difference in time delay for Newfoundland. Will get into to you,-- interesting, But it may not happen till we all return from Canada. We leave the 30th and have a family of four from Brazil arriving the 21 for a week. Don't know how we're going to get the RV loaded and ready. It
s usually a several day at the last minute job -- food from fridge, laundry and getting clothes, etc. in.......l we're going to be entertaining and showing our friends all over San Diego while they're here. (the guy was a high school exchange student with us in 1982).

Newfoundland sounds like the sort of place I'd love to visit, albeit in a rather more sedate way than these young people :)

I'm sorry not to see a Newfoundland dog beside them! That is what you do when you need to exercise the dog more than just a walk. These sorts of dogs need tons of exercise!

Great candid...I hope they're giving the dog lots of water and food especially with that heavy load.

Gee whiz, that sweet pup takes the phrase working dog" to a whole new level. I'm going to have to borrow the world globe I gave my granddaughter so I can keep up with you and Pam!

The load on the doggie looks too heavy to me too. I don't see the couple's tongues sticking out and panting! panting?!? :)

@joansmor I am actually not sure it is that kind of work - I know of sheepdogs and cattle dogs to a lot of running around chasing after sheep and cows - I have never seem them with packs - interesting

This picture is definitely one of a kind! I understand working dogs want to be useful. He certainly takes the prize!
