Surely you wouldn't wonder why I love to come up the coast to visit my daughter and the family! Besides the most obvious reasons, this is the view from in front of their home, and it's gorgeous at any time of day. After dinner with our grandson and visiting the neighbors for more low-sun photos on the edge of a bluff, I returned to my favorite site that looks across a valley to the ocean and the setting sun (that drops behind a hillside this time of year from where I look out). When I took this photo as the last hair's-breath of sun slipped away, I knew I'd covered the subject. I'd love to hear from others how much post processing they might do to these beautifully lit images. I opened them in RAW and toned them minimally. No filters, but WB on cloudy for everything. I'm in love with this lighting... I enjoy keeping a photo journal about my day, but I doubt that I'll give up practicing in this afternoon light!
I don't know that I would do much post editing at all to this one Louise. The lighting still allows us to see the detailed outline of the tree as well as the definition of the leaves. Those muted mountains in the background, a very satisfying visual.
@brigette@gerry@shepherdmanswife@stownsend@rangerxenos@digitalrn@cocobella@jamibann@timandelke@kass@kerristephens@judithdeacon@lynnilou@dailypix@jrambo001 Thank you all SO much! When I posted my 3 photos after midnight no one had looked at them, so what a delight to come to my computer this morning and find you all here with your very generous approval. I'd love to work for the Chamber of Commerce up here...it would be an easy sell! @brigette I would never have thought to set my WB on cloudy, but only did so at the suggestion of Kathy, who's running the Golden Hour thread. It does put a nice cast n the phtos, but I've left that setting there for everything this past week...
Again, my great appreciation for all your kind words!
super super light and you captured it so well Louise , this year is your best your pictures and your eye for taking a picture has improved so much , very well done
@steveh Oh Steve, you make me tear up! Thank you! I'd have never started on this learning curve without your help and a few others who made me enthusiastic to try new things. Now the Golden Light challenge and the help from Lyn, Kathy and Mike has led me to coloration I adore. I wondered in January if I could be dedicated to 365 again for a year, but now I can hardly get enough! (My commenting has fallen off a bit as I'm out gathering photos that need to be seen, culled, resized and posted, late into the night! But how cool is that?!)
Dear Louise. You make me with blush reading you so nice comment on my Poppies pic. I think as we say : geluk is met de domme = Luck is with the simple ones, or sheer luck. You so kind and I like you writings ( To me and the one I read as a comment on others. .
