Part Three: "Puddles" d'Pinguino Goes in Search of the Dragon
Journal Notes: Because of the afternoon's shocking events while I was in search of a "Dragon", I thought it best to tell you how my morning began when I proposed to find this mythical beast. Being young, and new to this world, all I'd heard was that a dragon is *Big* and likely green. There was some mention of "hot breath", probably meant to scare me as I carefully guard my snow within my helmet. As I set out with my photographer in tow, I suggested a story board might display the Kingdom of the Dragon that met me almost immediately!
Gathered around the Watering Hole and Feeding Trough were beasts, very much larger than I, but I mustered my courage, and approached to determine the real dragon amongst them! The first was decidedly green, a tell-tale sign of a dragon... "Are you a dragon", I asked, trying not to be frightened by his direct stare. "You impune my gentle nature, small bird, but it's water off a duck's back that you should question me in such a manner..." He returned to shoveling his breakfast. Within moments, my first fur-dragon encounter took place. I could see this monster was able to displace Big Bird who ambled back to the pond. I observed him and was stunned to see he'd spotted my photographer, extending his tongue in a threatening fashion, but, was ever so relieved to see no flames! From my vantage point I see he is quite large, but I now see he's no more than a big pussy, and to my relief, I've ascertained that this is not the Dragon.
Big Bird now returned with troops to regain the trough, but I no longer feared them. Their ferocity is all wet, and they couldn't muster a flame if they tried. As such, I found the Mrs to be almost grandmotherly as she leaned in to whisper some advice... "Son, Dragons are real...they're out there... Be brave; it's a big world and a long way to the Land of Chicago that you seek. You'll encounter more beasts, much larger than you, but not all are fire-breathing monsters with bad breath. Find pleasure in the adventure, and you'll find happiness at the end of your journey." Now off with you, and report back if you need any help or further suggestions."
And so began my day, along with the adventure. As with adventures and journeys, one can never be sure what will happen along the way, but that's why I jot notes in my journal and confer with my photographer at the end of the day.
It's comforting to know I'm being watched over by the angels in this Kingdom as well who are interested in knowing how I'm doing. It's been a long day and after some night reconnaissance, I hope to get some rest to begin again at daybreak... Signing off with an "x" and an "o", P d'P
