Shoot First & *Then* Read the Directions!

My typical M.O.

Frosty was being so generous with the photo ops this afternoon, I easily got everything I wanted for the final "Puddles" chapter. I knew there was "Speed-Setting" training taking place this week, and I saw Saxa has done a nice layout with all the numbers. So, while sitting there, (and nearly never having used "S", as my past with it had been so unsuccessful) I set the ISO & WB to Auto (as I recalled seeing) and then tried different speeds. Here, L-R, I used 640, 1300 and 2000. How delighted I was that I was able to freeze the action and that the pictures weren't "black"...

So THEN I read the directions to see how I was supposed to post this, and it seems I was supposed to be trying with much slower speeds. ...well OF COURSE that would make it *a challenge*!

I must say, though, that I used the Speed Setting successfully and I was delighted. Now to come to class and see if I can pass the test doing the lesson correctly!
It's so great that you have your own personally trained squirrel, though!

@danette She knows where her bread's buttered, so to speak! (I DO appreciate her cooperation, however!)

What an athlete!

What a wonderful model you have! Keep practicing - you're way ahead of me!

Love this! Despite the actual 'slow speed' intent of the lesson, you tried, and were successful with, something new. And to me, that's what learning is all about. Well done, Louise!
It looks like Frosty is in training for Olympic platform diving. Well done, Frosty!

@peggysirk Thanks for cheering on the team, Peggy! I think I read that you were enjoying sports this evening, and you switched the dial for a moment! You see her in these photos in a swan dive & switching to gymnastics, she agilly hits the high bar, bounces & catapults to the ground. She's quite athletic! (I did catch her balancing on the high beam, but Ken thought that was pushing the envelope... Away from Lunenburg, I'm desperate for subject matter!)

@danette See note to Peggy, above...

@pyrrhula :) Though I got the idea of how to do the project all wrong, I've had NO success with the speed setting and now I can do it right again and again. At least I am no longer scared to try using it! Today, out of curiosity, I could see a tiny speck of a plane with a con trail. Sine I can see detail of the moon, I wondered what I might see of a plane with the speed setting. Ferry, I couldn't believe it! I could see that it was Thai airlines on the tail and I could see the tiny dots of windows!!! I know I couldn't have seen that with the "A" setting! Amazing, isn't it!

Looks like Frosty is doing the high dive into the pool of water! Love the freeze action you have accomplished. You are making a masterpiece...

I love the way you approach tasks. It sounds familiar. I wonder why? MMMM....

Great action shots! We have squirrels in the trees behind the garden, but I've never thought of tying to train them up as models:)
