I had plans for Mexican food and shooting the sunset this evening, but the diner was closed and the sunset fizzled without doing anything too photo worthy. So I grabbed some Chinese food instead and snapped their lights which kinda reminded me of the Sea Urchins I shot a couple of weeks ago...
Now whenever I see these lights I will think sea urchins!! They really do look like them and work really well in black and white. Hope you had a good Chinese.
I really like this, especially the b&w treatment - I don't think I've ever seen a photo of these kinds of lights that wasn't color saturated, so this is a really nice change!
Lovely. I know what you mean about sunset. I chased one all over town and never got a shot. I saw a terrific shot but woods and other buildings conspired to defeat me. Oh well.
@webfoot Hi Paul, the frame in this case was straight out of iPhone Hipstamatic app. Often times, though, it is created in Photoshop simply by selecting the image and adding a very wide stroke. One super quick way I add a shadow (not the only way of course) is to select and cut the image, increase the canvas size and then paste the image back, double-click the new layer and select "drop shadow." Then it can be rotated, stretched,... Hope that helps?! :-)

Thanks a bunch, all! :-) @mimigd I use Silver Efex Pro for my b/w stuff--AWESOME plugin for Photoshop. The frame in this instance is a simple thick stroke, but I do use the OnOne Suite for fancier frames and textures. Also very, very cool!
@mimigd Oops, check that. The frame for this image was produced by the Hipstamatic app from my iPhone. Most of my frames such as this are created as above. :-)
would have preferred the mexican too...
