@janmaki thought my image from a couple of days ago might look nice in b/w and perhaps I should tag it as such for the Ansel Adams challenge. And when Jani speaks, I darn well listen! ...Plus I had been wanting to try this in b/w anyhoo because I'm so drawn to monotone images. I confess I hadn't seen the artist challenge yet--thanks for the heads up! This isn't the exact same image, but pretty dang close with the foreground being only slightly different.
oh lordy yes yes yes!! as if the land weren't amazing enough and then you organized those freakin clouds in the sky! super sensational, my friend.
(and thanks to you for those lovely words. . .2012 we will find a date!)
oh yeah. Fav. I think the b&w brought a bit of mystery to the shot. The flowing pattern in the sand is more prominent and reminds me of water, because the color is missing. Perfect for the challenge too.
This photo is amazing for the challenge! So many textures and tones! I've been taking mostly BW photos myself this week... Nothing as fabulous as this though. :-) FAVE
Powerful image. Love shots like this that really make you think about scale since it could be 100 feet or 100 miles. I looked at this for a few minutes and love the textures that really came out with the mono conversion.
@catwhiskers Thanks, Nan! It's just outside (south) of Page, AZ. I think the slots below are called "The Water Hole" (but we never saw any such water hole!) We never would have seen it, but just happened to hear about it from someone and wanted to go somewhere where there weren't so many people around. It was a tough walk down to the little slot canyon, and this was at the top. Here's a similar version in color: http://365project.org/aikiuser/round-2/2011-11-30
