According to my Internet research, this is the seed head of a weed called "catsear", although I thought I saw a similar photo here on 365 recently that gave it a different name... It is NOT a dandelion, though! Much larger than the fluffy head of a spent dandelion! They are popping up everywhere in our lawn and near the garden.
