I decided to post a shot of the Alberta Legislative Building that I took a couple of weeks. Yesterday former Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed passed away at the age of 84. He had lead the Conservative Party to victory in 1971 and was to serve as Premier until 1985. Words simply do not do justice for what he did for Alberta and for Canada. It was announced today that his body will lie in state for two days next week before the family has a private service for him
Recently he had been voted the top Canadian Premier of the last 40 years. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted by all of the kind words and tributes that have been coming in
My condolences to your nation as you mourn the loss of a great leader. This photo is a nice image to pay tribute to a man who served your country so well.
May his soul rest in peace. It is always hard to lose someone so influential - your country was blessed to have such a leader. Your post today in B&W is a nice tribute to his memory.
I am ashamed to admit how little Canadian history I know. Thank you for bringing it to our attention in this impressive picture. A fitting tribute to a great leader.
Like Allison, I do not know much about Canadian history and I agree that your photos are really giving us an education! Lovely building and tribute and it looks terrific in b & w.
@allie912 Glad to share it. If you want to learn more about him go look up the Edmonton Journal as they have lots of articles and photos of him at the moment
@gooner46 Thanks Chris. Like I mentioned to Allison, if you are interested, look up the Edmonton Journal on the web and they have a number of articles and photos of him
