This winter our snow arrived early. We have had snow in Edmonton this winter since Oct. 24. So needless to say I am getting a little tired of it and I am really looking forward to springtime. In the meantime we just have to put up with it and try to take advantage of it when we can.
So today we decided to go for a drive with nothing particular in mind. We found ourselves on the far southside of the city and made a stop at a Lutheran Church. On the property is the original building that housed the congregation. As well there is this old church bell that belonged to the first brick church building built on the site.
I have to admit that after receiveing a dusting of snow this over night it did make for a very nice picture.
Well we will see what tomorrow holds as it is a holiday here, Family Day has been a mid-winter holiday here since 1990
Very pretty picture. Since October is a long time to have had snow on the ground... Sounds like you definitely make the best of it, though, Brian. I, too am looking froward to the spring -- but it makes me realize that in the meantime I have very little to complain about!
Very pretty! What a cute bell. I'm glad you can find the good in the snow-- especially since it's been hanging around since October! I'd be sick of it by now for sure. We haven't had that much down here in West Virginia, but I'm still really, really ready for spring.
It does make a lovely scene. We haven't had much snow here and when it's come it's also left rather quickly. So I can't complain about that. But it has been cold and I really can't wait for the warmer Spring temperatures. However we won't get them until late April or May. So, I'll have to take a tip from you and look for the photo opps in it and smile.
Beautiful winter scene Love the bell in the foreground. Very little snow here. Was hoping for at least one big storm but no luck. We went to Vermont last weekend so we could get some snow.
Lovely picture perfect wintery scene. The church is charming and the bell is a treasure to discover. How fun to find sites like this while out driving. You did well!!
Snow always makes beautiful pictures. Ours was gone within a few days and I can understand that for a lengthy period it would get very wearing. Keep taking the photos of it though, it does look beautiful xx
@tonydebont Well this bell was salvaged from the original brick church building when a fire damaged the building and they put a new bell in the new church and placed this one on the grounds as a memorial to the original church
