Weekly Theme - Thirds

I'm sure many of you will agree that this year is flying by - we're a third through 2018 already! This got me thinking about the phrase 'things come in threes' as well as the essential 'rule of thirds', one of photography's go-to rules for a well balanced composition. So this week's theme is 'thirds'.

When you're out and about this week or lining up some subjects at home, think about how you can frame and compose the shot with thirds - and maybe you'll go one step further and theme your picture with a trio of some sorts!

For a similar theme last year we shared this super helpful post by, Photography Mad (photo credit for above). If you're still getting to grips with some of the basics they have some great examples of different subjects to give you some inspiration.

How to enter this week's theme

When uploading your photos use the tag section (on the edit/organise screen) and insert this week's theme tag: theme-thirds.

Entry Guidelines: Photos must be your own and must have been taken and uploaded from Tuesday 1st May until the following Sunday (6 days). 5 finalists will be chosen on the Monday evening (PST), then you get to vote for the winner.

Winner of the 'Exercise' theme

Thanks to everyone who cast their votes this week. We can't seem to get enough of @carolbird who's the winner for a second week running, this week for the 'exercise' theme!

The bold, sunny colours in @carolbird's shot really stand out and catch our eyes, as if we're watching the swing and shoes come right towards us! We also love the fun take on what is sometimes a serious hobby, or even chore. It certainly makes me feel nostalgic and brings back memories of summer holidays spent at the local playground.
