And traffic cones. Not sure if this shop is actually closing down - the whole area is a constant demolition and building site. Driving back from mum's.
Not quite the day we expected. Started off as standard with a late brunch of halloumi and mushrooms again. Mum hung around relaxing for a bit before we drove her home, armed with portions of leftover Christmas dinner, red cabbage, mince pies and trifle.
Unfortunately when I got into the flat with her and started to put her Finnish bread and Karelian pastries into the freezer, we realised she'd accidentally unplugged it before coming to us. I had to throw everything out - some rye bread in there might be OK for a bit and possibly the milk might survive a couple of days.
And then, we'd only just left when mum called to say her heating wasn't working. Doubled back and Dave fannied about a bit with the reset button and the taps to see if it was water pressure. But without the boiler manual he couldn't work out what combination of taps would refill the thing.
So mum came back with us again for a mince pie and one of our gin baubles. We'll call the porter tomorrow to see how we get someone to look at the boiler.
3 good things
1. We hadn't got far before mum called about the heating.
2. The gin baubles hold just enough for 2 gin and tonics.
3. Looking forward to catching up with Christmas Carole - a modern re-telling of A Christmas Carol that was on Sky Max a couple of days ago.
